Fancy Lords
Lord Furfolk : Wigglesworth Weasel gave himself the best title, of course!
Lord Graytalon: Montague Magpie, the first Roots General, took this prestigious title.
Lord Puddingstone: Horatio Hogg, the second Roots General, loved this elegant title.
Lord Quill: Eldridge Eagle, leader of the Eagles’ Council, bought this title for a pound
of new pennies. He could easily afford the price, because eagle feathers were
in great demand. The folks of Larkwood used them as writing pens.
Lord Swandown:
Woodruff Woodpecker, the postmaster from The Lanes, applied for this title.
He became president of the Roots’ Society.
Lord Sniffington, Lord Wetwhistle, and Lord Foggybottom (Wentworth Weasel,
Wellesley Weasel, and Worcester Weasel, respectively) took part in the Ruckus
at the Swan Dive. Only Lord Foggybottom escaped unhurt. He went on to
serve in the Roots’ army at the battle of Ash Lea. He also joined the Order
of the Lark.
Lord Upperberry: Radcliffe Robin, who helped start the Ruckus at the Swan Dive,
was given the title “Lord Upperberry” in exchange for a pound of new pennies.
He couldn’t afford to pay the fee; it was as much as he could make in a year working
in the worm trade. He took out a loan from the Worm Workers’ Union to pay for his
title.
